Since, you have not respond on our reply, it is working as expected and there is no problem with the theme while switching sidebar from right to left and vice-versa. You can see the demo with left sidebar on following link:

First of all thanks for reaching out, as there is not direct method to change the navigation color, please paste following scripts to the Appearance>Customize>Additional CSS section.main-navigation .menu ul.menu-desktop > li > a{ color: # ffff00 }Similarly,for site description, add following scripts to the same box,
.site-branding .site-description{ font-size: 24px; }While talking about Trending Section, you can simply enable/disable it for Appearance>Customize>Frontpage Options>Ticker news panel.
