In seems to me the site checked is too big. There is error in log file:

Scanner uses more then 256MB memory only to scan files? Cool!!
Can you repair this behavior?

Settings | Reading Settings | Blog pages show at most) is set to 3
/wp-json/posts?filter[s]=something&filter[posts_per_page]=50 returns [ ]
It seems to me the it’s not the problem in question.
