As there are plugins for this work, it is advise to go for another plugin to get your problem solve. ‘customization may be helpful only if the developer has a comprehensive knowledge about theme files including css. It’s up to you either you relay on the plugin or found a developer with proper solution. I also faced similar bug for my product page and my site crashed completely due to wrong css done.
