I struggled for a little while because I was looking in the wrong css file. (I’m not a developer myself so was seduced into using the main.css folder in my public_html/css directory.) If anyone else encounters this problem you need to look in:
wp-content/themes/matheson/style.css
(Assuming you are using default set-up).

I’m also using Matheson and I am having the same issue.
