I agree, it shouldn’t, hopefully the dev’s will update us on why this happened.
Had the same problem. You can fix it by changing the element type to ‘card element’ from woocommerce->settings->payments->stripe card processing, then the ‘settings tab’ (default location should be your website/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=cpsw_api_settings
