I am having a similar problem, albeit far more primary as I am a newbie.
1) Where did you place the XML URL you retrieved from your Google Calanedar? In the page? In the code of the page? I can’t seem to get mine to work…might be I don’t know where to paste the URL from my Google Calendar…
2) I see your calendar is up – how did you resolve the problem?

Just to idiot-proof my understanding: does the code required in the header still need to be inserted in each page, or does the link send it to WP running (in a way) stand alone?
