I’d like to adapt the Doc Archive plugin in the way you have. Could you post the patch for the openfile routine to force a new window to open.

AndyThe target=blank option of opening the document in a new window rather than forcing a save to disk is a much more user friendly and logical way of dealing with this issue in my opinion..
