Thanks David, I changed the page in my dev environment replacing the JIG shortcode with the one you supplied (and deactivated the JIG plugin) – and the thumbnails were ordered correctly:
hi Alan, thank you so much for getting back to me, yes it was the folders_to_hide.txt file, I’ve now edited that and it’s showing me the folders I need to see.
Debugged it now and my problem was that I needed a more $atts values in my custom form_tag_handler – got the missing ones from the inbuilt wpcf7_text_form_tag_handler and it now works fine…

We are working on a test site with the new theme, which is password protected. So I tried temporarily implementing the new theme on the live site and could not reproduce the problem there. We will try refreshing the live site back down to the test site and see if we still get the issue.
