All articles now showing up in Apple News! All working now!

Even though the articles all show “LIVE” in the Apple News tab.. when I got into iCloud, I only see 1 published article.. and 1 article when I open up iPhone News. This is so weird.

Well, guess what? I got it working… at least it’s working for now.. here’s what I did.

    1) I went back to iCloud.com and clicked on API Key.. then clicked REPLACE Key.. then clicked REPLACE key a second time (because I’ve done this numerous times already)

    2) Updated key in APP.

    3) Deleted the extra fields in editor and clicked published. The article went LIVE on Apple News.

I’m running SSL.. strictly SSL (redirecting http to https if someone connects to a non-secure connection). Does that matter?

When the app makes the connection to Apple News.. how does it connect? PHP?

I see a lot of empty fields under the Custom Fields in the editor after publishing an article.

    The following fields are BLANK:

    apple_news_is_preview
    apple_news_pullquote

But this field has a value:

    apple_news_pullquote_position – middle

That’s all the fields I see. BUT the one article that did publish correctly and go LIVE has more fields than that.. populated with apple_news data.

The word Blame was a poor choice in words on my part. The WRONG_SIGNATURE error.. I wish there was more debugging I can do. Nothing shows up in PHP errors, or the WordPress debug.

I heard back from Apple News tech support and they said all is fine on their end. They are blaming it on the plugin.

I haven’t added any new plugins since installing Apple News. I did deactivate them, moved the theme to default WordPress.. cleaned up all “apple_news” references in database and then reinstalled plugin. Same problem. I did open a ticket with Apple News asking them if there are any issues on their end. It’s a brand new Channel.. which was approved on 10/1. I’ll let you know what they say. It’s just weird that I can only get one article in there and then the rest prompt an error.

NOTE: I tried disabling all plugins and running a stock/default WordPress theme and still have the problem. I get “There has been an error with the API: WRONG_SIGNATURE” whenever publishing. Server time is EDT, WordPress time is EDT. I was able to get 1 article up LIVE .. all other articles sit idled in iCloud but not LIVE. ALSO – It’s a NEW CHANNEL (Sebastian Daily).

Ok, at least I’m not going crazy. LOL

Happening on new articles now. I’m beginning to think that it’s not something with the date. I already refreshed the API Key. I don’t know why SOME articles work, but others don’t. It’s gotta be something in the content that is producing the WRONG_SIGNATURE

Changed timezone to Eastern on server to match WordPress… still getting FAILED_PROCESSING .. but NOT on new articles.

Here’s the JSON of the FAILED PROCESSING one.
