Can I chuck my hat into the ring here, it seems a bit odd that you can add a filter to display posts from or to a specific date but you can’t set the filter as Today.
If I create a filter to display all future events I need to adjust the date on my saved filter set every time I load the page (on different days).

have tried adding some style to your custom css?
will depend on your template where you put it but you could start with something like this:
th, td {
padding:15px;
}
Has your host not pulled your site yet for malicious content?
I recently clean up for a customer after the Pharma hack and while working out the affected files the host pulled the site and sent me a list of files that needed to be removed, saved me hours of work.
