  • i found a wordpress module for xoops. no documentation in english but if you know wordpress it is no problem. it installs as a module no problem. i just install xoops and wp-module locally so i can’t say much more right now.

i tried blogcms (running locally) and i have to say i didn’t see any huge advantage that would make me change to blogcms.
alright, blogcms supports multiple weblogs in one installation but that’s about it. everything else seems to be more awkward. eg. i had problems finding categories (how to set them up), subcategories don’t seem to be supported and that’s a big minus for as i got used to this feature of wp.
multiple blogs: making a second wp installation went as painless as the first one and with a brower that has tabbed browsing (such as firefox) you get used to having two tabs with the to admin areas (remeber the old mt days? switching from one blog to the other was not as convenient as having two tabs).
bottomline: no need to switch to blogcms just for the multiple blog feature. the import of the wp dump did not work properly.

oh dear: the link only goes as far as the ‘,’ so you will have to copy&paste (obviously — sorry for stating the obvious but i work in a corporate environment, we get training in how to use the phone)
i thought i was logged in when i posted the topic but there you go…

@fabien: the conversion script comes with every release i think, and it works very well. i did the conversion about 5 weeks ago with the nighly build current at the time. i did create author and categories beforehand, although i’m not sure whether that is an requirement. the way you suggest (install ap1 and import, then upgrade) is probably _not_ necessary. to be sure, check the forum if there are problems with wp1.2-rc1 with regard to import-mt (i haven’t seen a thread suggesting that; rc1 still has some issues but mt-import is not one of them).
anyway, you’ll be very pleased with the speed and convenience wp has to offer (furthermore i think it’s safe to say that you won’t read an announcement from the developers informing you that you have to pay for the features you got used to use or accept a crippled version)
    good luck

mt does write absolute links as far as i remember. however, there is an mt-plugin that converts them into relative links.

wp does not write static archive pages and your posts in the database won’t take as much space as a static page. so yes, there is significantly less space used (e.g.: i have to blogs with currently about 300 entries each, that makes 600 individual pages plus the archives for each month and category, all together some mbs; the entry section of the database is currently about 250kb (!) each)

now that you mention it: i don’t do future postings too often but yes, the last time i wanted to do it the entry showed straight away – and that shoudn’t be the case. i’m still on an earlier nightly (28-04) so perhaps it is fixed by now.

i assume wp-admin/options-general.php is where you want to go:
    wp-admin | options | general
wp and blog address both http://benoitbisson.com/blog/
of course your wp files and dirs should be in /blog/ as well

it only seems to happen with edit.php.
i just posted something and it was fine.

i get the same error as atmasphere
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /usr/www/users/jgreene/wp/wp-includes/class-xmlrpc.php on line 760
when posting or editing (nightly build 29-04). all the edits are saved though despite the error. strangely enough it only happens with 1 blog, not with the other.
    both blogs are pinging

    http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2
    http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
    http://ping.blo.gs/
    http://rpc.blogrolling.com/pinger/
    http://ping.rootblog.com/rpc.php
    http://api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2

additionally the blog with the error does not display edit/delete option for the default links (no tickbox either).
