    Forum: Installing WordPress
    In reply to: Install error

    I had the exact same error. When I unzipped my WordPress2 folder for some reason wp-settings.php was not there.

    Make sure you have that file in your WordPress install’s root folder and that will probably fix it.

    For some reason when I unzipped the 2.0 file the wp-settings.php file didn’t show up. (Was able to duplicate this problem on three desktops and a laptop).

    Unzip it again and see if it’s there then over write the one left from 1.5.2. That fixed it for me.

    After much foul language and pulling of the hair, I was able to fix the author comment problem by using the following code in my comments-popup,php file:

    <a href="<?php comment_author_url() ?>" target="new"><?php comment_author()?></a>

    Crude. But it works. 🙂

    Editing the wp-comments-post.php worked for me also. Thanks for the info, chinito!! 🙂

    I have to agree with Eurcynia here. If you are not using the template that WP comes with, it’s PITA to get it to customize. And that’s not even going INTO the drama to get B2 to convert. Somebody should REALLY think about including some better instructions in the Readme for that conversion.
    My main complaint is that when I did a search on how to use colored scrollbars on my site I was able to find one thread. I read that thread and in 19 responses not a SINGLE ONE answered the question yet about 10 of them were post’s about why you should not use colored scrollbars because they do not conform to ‘web standards’.
    I also am gald that there is a free blogging tool out there and I love some of the added features that WP offers. I do, however, feel bad for those people out there that don’t have a good understanding of HTML or CSS because in that catagory, WP in not that user friendly.

    Well, I went ahead an imported all of my old blogger files into WP and it was a flawless, simple process… If somebody could PLEASE let us know how to get b2 to do the same I’d be ever so greatful. Having all of my old blog posts into ONE program is almost too good to be true!!

    I just checked and all of those tables have already been created. So that’s not my problem at least. And I’m still having the same issues. Can anybody else think of a reason we might all be having this issues??

    I’m getting the same error message when I try and use the import-b2.php.
    The exact error I get is: ‘There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. Double check that you updated wp-config-sample.php with the proper database connection information and renamed it to wp-config.php.’
    I’ve looked at the dang wp-config.php file so many times now that I know it by heart. I know it’s there. What is the reason this is error is happening?
