We reverted back to Woocommerce’s regular shipping flow to avoid the problems – running now without any issues.

Sorry I missed your response, thanks for coming back to me.
Unfortunately, the issue still persists, I can reproduce it every time when Klarna auto-fills the shipping details based on email and postal number. Sometimes the error also happens when just filling in the address without autofill (see the screenshot below).
