I’m also having the same problem. I thought version 2.2.0 resolved it but pages i have hidden still shows up in search on the frontend of the website.
The only thing that 2.2.0 resolved was the php errors but not the visibility of the pages excluded in search.

Version 2.2 seems to be working fine but the only issue is that the Search Exclude configuration in editing page does not appear anymore in the right sidebar so i’m not able to exclude any specific pages?
