Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Host does not support 6.7Thanks for the tip. I am running php 7.4.10. iPage has a “cache control panel” and I went in and set everything to the minimum of 1 hour. Logged into my WordPress and disabled all cache settings and emptied all caches. For the record, am running program Total Cache on my WP. My browser, Vivaldi (on Macintosh) has a “delete browsing data” function and I emptied all caches on my local machine.
Lo and Behold, my blog page now appears on our smartphones, Windows laptop, and my two Macintosh computers.
I will go into my WP and turn on the caches one by one to see which is causing me problems and report back if I can.
Thanks again for the help.

In reply to: Upgrade to 6.1 error in editorI had bounced around trying to downgrade from 6.1 back to 5.7.8. Finally opened a chat with my hosing service, iPage. They looked at my settings and discovered there was no WordPress version number on the server side. Somehow they fixed this problem and everything began to work with the exception of the Customize functions, which turned out to be a Safari browser issue. (I am running a late 2013 MacPro.) I installed an alternate browser, Vivaldi, and can perform all my Customize functions, which work fine, through it.

In reply to: [Hemingway] WP 6.1 removed Customize functionsAppears WP changed something in 6.01. 6.1 that affected my Safari web browser. Customize works on a Windows box. Was working fine at 5.7.8.
I guess I will have to bite the bullet and upgrade my OS to something newer. Have been resisting as that will mean my existing software would require expensive replacement.
Thread can be closed and considered resolved.

In reply to: [Hemingway] WP 6.1 removed Customize functionsSince first post WP updated to 6.0.1 automatically. I disabled but did not remove plug-ins. Cleared all cookies and caches. Logged out and in. Changed themes to twenty-twenty-one. Still same problem, no customize functions on either theme. PHP looks to be version 7.4 from hosting admin panel. Top of screen says “Customize: Loading” but page stays blank.
Plugins (5) are 1. Akismet 2. Classic Editor 3. Classic Widgets 4. Simple Visitor Counter
5. W3 Total Cache. All except Visitors Counter are supported by WP.Any other ideas? How do I view site logs?

In reply to: Upgrade to 6.1 error in editorWent through the troubleshooting list, problem not fixed. Installed new theme, hemingway, had other problems at 6.1 as it removed all Customize functions. Reverted back to WP 5.7.8 and hemingway works. Will stay at 5.7.8 level. Problem with Customize has been put in the support/theme/hemingway forum but no answers as of yet.

In reply to: [Hemingway] WP 6.1 removed Customize functionsAdditional: When I try to load the “Customize” page the URL reads “https://www.appleattic.net/blog/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fblog%2Fwp-admin%2F”
I have verified that there is a “customize.php” in the wp-admin folder. File size is 10,707.
If I click on the “Customize” button from the Themes window I get this URL:
https://www.appleattic.net/blog/wp-admin/customize.php?theme=hemingway&return=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.appleattic.net%2Fblog%2Fwp-admin%2Fthemes.phpThere is also an “edit.php” file which I thought was in an earlier URL but I cannot replicate it now.
Hope this additional info is of some use.
