Another quick update,
I noticed that the picture links still had “localhost’ urls, so fixed those on the Mac side (Site maintenance) and now all seems ok. Not absolutely sure which of the tweaks fixed this for me, but seemed to revolve around making sure there were no “localhost” entries in with of the httpd.conf files, or the wp-config.php files, and of course making the appropriate entry in the client machine hosts file.
Thanks to the forum for all the posts around this, it all helps newbe’s to WP like me.

Quick update,
Site now visible from my Ubuntu Linux client, all the links seem to work fine, all plugins for images etc work, BUT, images embedded in the pages don’t appear, odd.
Any ideas how to fix this please.
