I have forced a switch to theme 2025 by temp renaming kadence-child on the back end. All updates are now working. Issue identified. Kadence-child theme functions.php was loading in admin area, breaking AJAX. Adding is_admin() check.
Still working on it.
I have hit a brick wall. I cannot change my kadence-child to something like 2024.
I get “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with ww.wp.xz.cn or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”
This means to me that I am not even connecting ww.wp.xz.cn. This is the reason why I cannot update any plugins. Any advice would be greately appreciated.
Hello Peter, thank you for your response.
My host (GreenGeeks.com) has NOT set No Abort globally. The .htaccess code is in place. I cannot send diagnostics as Wordfence settings won’t save. The conflict is with my theme’s custom AJAX functions.
I am in the process of attempting to isolate the conflict. I have limited tech and coding experience so I use AI for assistance.

Disabling all the plugins would be a horrendous task because I have so many. Is there a simpler way? Fortunately, I can hack with the staging site.
Would there be the option to do this in the premium version? If so, please go into detail, thank you
