I had a surprisingly hard time finding a plugin that really suited our (limited) needs. Having the ability to auto-send emails about renewals was a factor in choosing PMP, and having memberships automatically added to the database. PMP was recommended, but is maybe too functional for what we really need.
Our members never had passwords to begin with. We don’t have any member-only content on the website. Purchasing a membership is to be a part of our organization, and we use the Members List to keep track of our mailing list primarily. There is no reason for our members to sign into an account at this point. So there are no passwords to recover.
