We are experiencing a similar issue with the vp_page attribute. Enabling the page as a portfolio archive doesn’t solve the problem, and we don’t want to do that anyway. We’re using the Gutenberg block on a page.
We need an option where the pagination (and other values from other users on this post) canonically point to the original page URL, or some other solution.
