Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Random white bar showing up in header of one page.Hi @t-p,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
Definitely a plugin issue – it’s Orbitfox. I’ve rolled it back to the previous version which caused issues and instead deactivated it.
I’ve changed the template of each page since it broke the formatting.
Do you know if this plugin is a must to have? I don’t know much about it but I can see it’s by ThemeIsle who are quite popular.
Cheers for the help so far.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Plugin is generating event URL’s years ahead of timeHi Geoff,
Thanks for getting back to me and sorry for the delay here.
I’ve had a huge dig around in the plugin’s backend to determine whether or not it’s a paid version and it’s a little ambiguous for me.
I’ve gone to “upgrade” the plugin (which I assumed would be from Free to Pro) and it downloaded a new version of the plugin and removed the old version, then I re-activated the plugin.
I also went back into the plugin and headed to “Event Addons” which suggest to me that I should buy or look into purchasing the recurring events addon.
Can you confirm for me if the PRO version is capable of producing recurring events by itself or do you need the recurring events ADDON?
It doesn’t have the addon installed right now but I’m unsure if it’s a pro version.
When I click on an older event, it doesn’t give me any options about “recurring events” so I’m not sure what to think.
1. Have done this, unsure of the implications but I’ll recrawl the website in about an hour or so.
2. My suggestion is going to be to simply delete them because they occurred over 4-5 months ago – I don’t think it’s worth keeping them around anyway tbh. If they want to keep them, I’ll do a reimport as you mentioned.
In the interest of figuring this out as soon as possible, I’ve hyperlinked two extremely past and future events below.
An example of a past event URL being generated <—- This is an event dated to be from 2007 and is being crawled.
An example of a future event URL being generated <—- This is an event dated to be for 2038 and is being crawled.
All of these are being crawled by Google – if we can’t somehow remove this functionality, I’m going to suggest to simply block them from crawling but ideally it would be nice to remove the excess of 2,000 pages.
Any help is further appreciated, thanks Geoff.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Plugin is generating event URL’s years ahead of timeHi Geoff,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
I was also a little surprised!
I’ve checked and I don’t believe they’re using a paid version, because adding a new event doesn’t have any “recurring events” functionality and requests we upgrade.
I’ve scoured through the settings about a million times looking for any indication on where to change these generation settings.
There are only about 10 listed events in the “Events” section, but all of them were scheduled to end on the same day they began.
Clicking on them also doesn’t give any indication about lowering the end date.
I’m quite lost as to how these events are being generated ahead of time (and for years that have come some time ago). I’ve crawled the site through Screaming Frog and there’s about 2000+ URL’s of empty events for the future and crawl stats in GSC indicates that Google is crawling these URL’s, which isn’t ideal.
I’d rather just have the ability to switch them off because we don’t want them indexed for reasons I mentioned above.
Do you think you’d be able to point me in the right direction of any other settings you think might do the trick?
Thanks Geoff, appreciate your help thus far.
Hi Sybre,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Just letting you know I’ve resolved it.
Many thanks for creating a wonderful plugin.
Have a great day and take care.
