Hi, I guess (found out later during solving a similar problem) the problem was, that the site was access protected by .htaccess.

Jep. Here we go. Issue was that on the original site there was a “.htaccess” file with Authentification configuration in it because the site was protected until launch. After removing this file from the ZIP it worked great.
You might leave “.htaccess” out as a default and just notify the user if there is one. Because if it is unchanged included in the ZIP it does not work anyway 😉

    Kindest regards from Germany,
    Andreas.

I have additional information regarding this:

I see this error message in the log.
`29.12.2013 17:44:09 2013.[domain].de [client ip-no] (2)No such file or directory: Could not open password file: /kunden/homepages/19/customer_no/htpasswd
29.12.2013 17:44:15 2013.[domain].de [client ip-no] (2)No such file or directory: Could not open password file: /kunden/homepages/19/customer_no/htpasswd
29.12.2013 17:44:18 2013.[domain].de [client ip-no] (2)No such file or directory: Could not open password file: /kunden/homepages/19/customer_no/htpasswd`

That’s probably where the 500 comes from?
    Any idea?

    Regards,
    Andreas.
