Okay – I’ll continue to troubleshoot. Thanks.
Okay – that was bad. It DID lose all sorts of data and I am currently restoring from my backup from Total Upkeep. I hope THAT works!
@bvytis and @betydbr – when I switched from my Hestia Child and logged back in, the dashboard did exactly what it should do. Immediately upon trying it again when enabling Hestia, it logged me into the Customizer. This does appear to be a Hestia issue. Please advise how to make that behavior stop. Thank you.
Thank you, @bvytis . I’m concerned – if I change themes, will I be retaining all the customizations I’ve done on my site? I’d wanted to try this, but didn’t know if my child theme would retain all my Hestia customizations and such. I’d love to know. Thanks!

In reply to: [Hestia] Add Read More… link in FeaturesThank you, Poonam. I suppose I should have mentioned that I’m using the Lite version. So, there’re no hooks. Can this be done in Lite? I simply don’t want that much content on my first page, as I’ll actually be using quite a few pages in my site, so I’d like to link to the page with all that content and just a teaser on the main page.
If this can’t be done in Lite, I get it – but if it CAN be done- if there’s a way to get to the actual code, I’d appreciate it. Thanks!

In reply to: [Hestia] Is there a list of shortcodes and divs for Lite?Thank you. I’d been hoping it’d be simpler, as I had clearly missed some of the path info when I tried before, but I suppose I’ll just have to watch more carefully. Thanks!

In reply to: [Hestia] Align Features Content LeftHi, Poonam! Thank you!
I haven’t gotten to try it yet (out of the office), but I’m CERTAIN that’s what’s going to work! HOW did you find the names of the divs? I couldn’t find the path, when inspecting the page, but I know that’s going to come up more and more.
When I look at the documentation for short codes, they give the names of the Pro sections. I’d LOVE to be able to find these by myself, so I don’t have to bug people here.Thank you SO much for this. I can’t wait to get back to the office and apply it!

In reply to: [Hestia] Front Page lost everythingRESOLVED – I had to go to the Elementor editor (which I don’t want to use, I don’t think), and change the setting to use the Default page. That worked! PHEW!
Hope this post helps someone else…Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Hestia] Hestia Frontpage sections disappearingPHEW! Finally found where to apply the default template – in Elementor! That worked – thank you!
Hi. I do see that disabling Wordfence completely is not resolving the error. And, Console shows:
aboutyourmac.com/:1 Failed to set referrer policy: The value ” is not one of ‘no-referrer’, ‘no-referrer-when-downgrade’, ‘origin’, ‘origin-when-cross-origin’, ‘same-origin’, ‘strict-origin’, ‘strict-origin-when-cross-origin’, or ‘unsafe-url’. The referrer policy has been left unchanged.Does this mean the error is from my hosting company’s alias referencing? If so, why the Wordfence error? If this just means something from Wordfence, I’ll commence with the other troublshooting ideas. Thanks!
Well, Wordfence DID prevent these attacks, and my sites were rebuilt and inspected for any remaining malware by my hosting company.
Thank you for your responses on this. I’m finding these attacks happen, even with WP Hider installed.
Thanks again, for responding.
I was actually going to write in, but got too busy yesterday. Wordfence recorded an attack again, with what listed as 135 attempts on my wordpress database. I’m pasting the part of the email that shows what got hit. I promise you – that admin is WELL hidden as far as the name I gave it, but this came back – showing the regular wp-admin address (redacted here)

In reply to: [WPS Hide Login] How are people still finding me to attack meThanks again for the response. Almost all of my plugins are intended to hide that information, not share it. At least that’s what they say they do. Can you think of a plugin (all of which are from the ww.wp.xz.cn plugin site) that may expose my login to the public?
I do get fewer attacks with your plugin, but can’t imagine what could possibly be approved by WordPress that would actually GIVE out the login info to anyone…
Thanks!

In reply to: [WPS Hide Login] How are people still finding me to attack meThank you, for your prompt response.
I have changed the URL, but I can’t use the box for registered users. more than one of my sites is a shop, and I need people to be able to see content and purchase content ( although, the listed aboutyourmacintosh.com isn’t – however, that’s only 1 of 3 sites that got attacked). The attacks were blocked by Wordfence, but it’s impossible to find the time to change the login URL for all sites, whenever someone hits it.
I simply can’t understand how I’m being found to be attacked, considering the URL’s I’m choosing aren’t easy at all.
Any further suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you, @mountainguy2 for the answer. AND I VERY much appreciate the suggestion to stay with the free one. I tried to keep up with all this, but being a person who’d technical doesn’t mean I have the time to become expert in all things, security being one of them. My hosting company suggested I pay a security expert! LOL!!! As if I had THAT money!
Not sure that within my studies on the settings that I could have stopped this brute force thing. Came in through a very back door – and my password’s not an easy crack on that domain. Sadly, because it got into a subdomain, it was able to meander around to infect all the domains in the main directory that contained them. Not being an expert, I thought I’d set my firewall to block these, and other kinds of attacks… guess not.
I may keep this – and I’m also considering trying Securi, which also gets good ratings, seems to do a lot of the same, and doesn’t bother you on every screen, to upgrade.
Also learned – the hard way – having something like Backup Buddy is going to help me. My last backup was 5/11/18 – sheesh!
THANKS!
