It turns out to be something odd with Safari 5.x under OS 10.6.8 as the buttons display inside Firefox and Chrome; I hadn’t thought to test that in the shock of discovering that, apparently, my website was falling apart. I probably need to do a system overinstall and definitely need to upgrade to something newer. Probably going to replace the 2008 laptop.

And possibly related: for the first time I tried using the share widget. I dragged the SMF: Sharing widget into a custom widget area and it does appear along with other widgets populating that area — but no SoMe icons appear in its space in the sidebar.

Hi Peter. Thanks for your attention on and to this. But…and excuse my non-programmatic denseness…I still don’t see anchors listed in the syntax editor’s UI. Without the plugin, when I bring up the links dialog, if I’ve previously created an anchor on the page, the UI adds an anchors label and dropdown in the dialog to facilitate linking to. I still don’t see that in the link dialog that the syntax plugin displays.

Of course, I’ve just observed the syntax for anchor: the # symbol plus the anchor name. So that’s easy to type in the link field assuming I remember the next time I need to make and link to one.

Am I missing something? Or could this be a Safari v5x under Mac 10.6.8 issue? (I’m behind the OS times…)

    Hi Bryan,

I just installed this and see no difference from my WP text editor’s UI.

Does your life-and-eyeballs saving plugin co-exist with TinyMCE?

Is Better File Editor dependent upon the active theme to work? Can the theme prevent it from working? I’m using Akita from ThemeBlvd and have enabled its child theme (you know, to prevent main theme updates from wiping certain styles and functions customizations from getting wiped out).

    I’m a lay person, not a programmer…

    Thanks!

oh, forget it. I see the installer actually installed two plugins…
