thanks for your patience with my rant.

I used the plugin Velvet Blues, and that seems to have taken care of what I needed… except for a couple of the pages that are more customized, but there’s only a few of those.

I’ll probably run into situations again where I need to know about the database and get up to my elbows in it… but I’m glad to get this part done today.

I am an html and css webpage designer (static websites), and there are a THOUSAND ways that it is better than this insane world of WordPress where you need a blasted plugin to do anything, and then plugins conflict or need to be updated and *then* they conflict.

I mean, I’m very grateful for your help — I’m totally not ranting at you — but compared to building a site in straight CSS, this stuff is nuts.

It’s unbelievably complicated. There must be a simpler way.

I don’t even know what “Only perform a search and replace on the wp_posts table.” means.

And there’s a 15-step procedure?? That’s can’t be true.

I’ll be honest and say the 30% of what’s written in that article is absolutely unreadable to me. But the pages all link to the new location, it’s just the internal links.

Maybe someone can translate that in-depth article for me? Or perhaps there are just part of that article that are relevant to me?
