Installed new wp 4.6 instance, add backup guard, permissions – run putty, chown daemon to bitnami, sftp backup, chown bitnami back to daemon, retry restore, fix php exceptions listed in backups error log (replaced SGArchive.php and admin-ajax.php with original backups), retry restore – success.
