I want to have a similar gallery here but with different images and without having to duplicate all my efforts from the first gallery.

How do you do that exactly? Are you referring to kanghoy’s method?
This is how I did it
go to appearance -> editor -> home-blog.php
at the top bake the entire page a comment
add <!–
and at the bottom add
–!>
This will not delete anything so if you decide to use the blog feature later it’s still all there.
