I posted a reply here earlier today but it has not appeared, so I will try again.
I tried to post this on the alternative support forum (shown in the latest reply) as well BUT it asks for a Purchase Code and we are using the Lite (i.e. “free”) version since we are a charity and do not have funds to pay out!
We are using the Lite version and when this was updated all the tables “disappeared” and became unusable
If we update using the “Full” version, we shall have to pay for use and we are a charity with limited funds
Please advise soonest what could have gone wrong and how to update to the latest Lite version (what is the version number?) without causing the same “disappearing tables” act!
Is anyone there?
What is the point of this forum if no-one answers the queries posted there?Since there have not been any answers, I can only assume that I am the only one working over the Holidays? Perseverance is a long suit!
Latest info:
1 – Since the web-host techie re-installed the 14 day old wpDataTables folder, all seems to be well with the web-site, EXCEPT that on the WordPress Plug-Ins listing, wpDataTables is listed twice – the old version (in use) and the 2.0.2. with “Please update”. I will not update until I know from the wpDataTables programmers that the same problem of tables becoming unusable will not recur2 – I can not seem to find any way of printing out the table design or structure (lots to print the data but that is of no use, since it is already held in the web-host’s MySQL database). Why is there no function (or Print button) to do this? Do you know of an Add-In that will do this job?
I have received the following reply from Tech Support at our web-host iPage.com Please feel free to comment on the validity of their answer and, if it is true, please state what can be done to prevent the Plug-In from auto-updating when a new version appears and causes the same problem:

I have referred to a few forums of your ‘wpdatatables’ plugin and found that-
upgrading the plugin usually breaks the tables which you have created using the plugin,
which results in tables showing error. We keep 14 days old backup of the website files. I have restored the ‘wpdatatables’ plugin folder from the oldest backup available on our server. Now all the tables are displayed fine in your website at http://www.brightonandhoveu3a.org
