– With the new update, the default author image follows the default behavior of WordPress, which I think is a cleaner approach.
– Will add the secondary author feature to the list of requested features 🙂
– The option to hide the author image is not feasible because that is up to theme developers to hide the image section if no image was selected.

This could also be happening to you because there’s a plugin conflict.
