Thanks for your prompt reply. I reverse-engineered the …pt_PT.mo file back into a .po file so I could read the list of translations, and found that the Portuguese translator had translated the Admin strings but for some reason hadn’t touched any of the end-user strings, which is what had confused me. Anyway! the …pt_BR.mo file is far more complete, so for the moment I’m using that as a starting-point, and tweaking it as I need to. I’ve also created an American-to-English .mo file 😉 which at the moment just includes “Cell phone” -> “Mobile phone”…
Now, a real problem I think. For [upcoming_events] you always see the heading “Upcoming Birthdays the next 30 days” irrespective of language – is this a generated rather than a fixed string? I have a translation for “Upcoming Birthdays” -> “Aniversários em Breve” but there’s no provision for translating “the next xx days”.
