Unfortunately I did not get any resolution from the the support staff, however here is how I resolved it…

I created a new page and the side bar showed up there just fine. Apparently its the BBpress plugin that it was not working well with. I recreated the forum page, assigned the sidebar and then added the short code to display forum and this time the side bar stayed. Hope this helps.
