The string you see is serialized. Use unserialize()

You can do a get_post() to get the post as an object.

There was a few bugs that we fixed in the custom post type plugin. We have been really busy and had not had time to implant the taxonomy code yet.

The Category tag with out plugin is not the same thing as a taxonomy with the new WordPress. We have had a few people request this feature and it is on our to-do list. We will try to have the updated version here within the next week or two that supports taxonomies as well as custom post types.

We have look into the problem and we will be realeasing a fix for with the next plugin by Friday of this week.

Hey Betadog,

Your correct, right now this is not possible. It is possible to list a category from a post type, but not multiple post types, and not multiple categories.

We did not have this functionality planned, but it is a good idea, and I can see how it would be useful.

I will be working on this functionality for v. 1.3.5

In regards to the post_type parameter; were you thinking a comma separated list would work for the value? i.e. post_type=”books, magazines, VHS”?
