It’s possible:
1. Choose the role you want to manage.
2. Choose “POSTS & PAGES”.
3. Click on “Filter Posts by Post Type”.
4. In “Filter Posts by Type” expand “Posts”.
5. Choose Category you want to restrict.
6. Choose “Manage Access”(Pinions icon against the name of category, after pencil icon).
7. In “Manage Access” choose “Backend” button.
8. In “Backend” check “Browse”, “Edit” and “List” and click “Apply” button.
9. Click “Save” button in “Control panel”.
10. You have to manually restrict every category that you don’t want to show.
