Thanks for your continued support.
I did not install the Post SMTP extension in the Main WP module.
I did a reset of the plugin, deactivated end deleted. Than I installed it again, did the setup wizard but no joy. I removed Post SMTP again and for testing reasons I installed WP mail SMTP (lite) and it worked fine with the same connection data as Post SMTP. But I rather use Post SMTP because of the mail log.
As a test (in WP mail SMTP), I mistyped the SMTP login password and I got an error with full detail log of the error. I did the same in Post SMTP and I got no error but the same message as with the correct password (Your message was delivered (0 ms) to the SMTP server! Congratulations :)). Isn’t 0ms a little short? Is there something wrong with fetching, sending and checking credentials to the SMTP server? I did not get any debug log to say what went wrong.
What can I check next?

Thanks for the info. Debugging is ON but I don’t see the debug.log file.
I noticed that if a test mail is sent, you have a link “View transcript”. Normally there is a debug text. In the case of my not working installations, this field is totally blank.
Than I disabled Post SMTP and everything works fine again. The reason I installed Post SMTP is to have more control and the email log. It would be nice when it works again.
I uninstalled the Post SMTP plugin and it asked me to delete plugin AND data and I answered YES. After installing again all settings were stil there and the log was still there too. How can I totally uninstall/remove/delete Post SMTP so I can try a new install?

- Yes, “Log Email & send” is set.
- What is that free tool to check settings you mentioned and where can I find it?
- I also set the log level (advanced -> PHP Log Level) to debug. Where could I find these logs?
- Are there other things I can check to find the problem?
Everything worked fine for years and since a few months no mail anymore 🙁

Extra info: the problem is only in edit mode. When published and viewed all is OK.
I tested with a new WP installation (6.4.3) with only 1 plugin installed: Stackable – Gutenberg Blocks.
I tried these themes:
– Twenty Twenty-Four & 23 & 22 => OK
– Twenty Twenty-One and older => PROBLEM
– Astra => OK
– Generatepress => PROBLEM
– Kadence => PROBLEM
– Kubio => PROBLEM
– Neve => PROBLEM
