hi. i deactivated my caching plugin. i also activated TwentyTwenty theme and still have the problem.
i didn’t mention that logged in as an admin, the menus all work as expected. but logged in as a member they do not work.
strangely, the problem seems to have a changed a bit. now after logging in, the home page will still have the menu for logged out users, but all the other pages on the site will not have logged in or logged out user menus at all.

hi. well i guess the last step seems to be that docx files with spaces in their names will not upload. they get rejected still.

ok. i reinstated the function.

this is interesting, i was able to get “test.docx” to upload this time! looks like the problem may be with have spaces in the document. i can see that if i upload a “test 2.doc” with your plugin, it is uploaded and renamed to “test-2.doc”. but .docx files with spaces will not upload. so probably i just tried to upload a docx file with spaces in the title last time i tested this new function and didn’t test it with a single word file name. this is great progress! glad you had me try again!

Thank you for your hard work. This did not work for me. I’m guessing I cannot upload zip files at all. With or without your code added to the functions.php file, I can’t upload a .docx or .zip file at all. (I tried zipping a standard txt file as my test zip file.) Thanks again for trying all this. I’m hoping you still have more ideas! I may be able to update the website to a newer server if we can’t get this working. But I’m hoping we don’t have to do that.

i have access to another modern c-panel godaddy account. i tested an upload form on that site and found it does indeed work for docx files. so maybe the problem actually is their older servers being incompatible with docx. does that seem possible? thank you.
