Hello, is anyone able to review and possibly move this towards resolution?

I have not heard from ‘Superusersysadmin’ in a week and my attempts to contact him have come back failed.

    Hello

Sorry, I have been in nature without a phone. Thought I had responded but the message was still saved as a Draft.

I can’t see how to edit or remove the old post, so if a Mod could do that, great.

Regarding your offer of further help, yes please. What is required?

    Big thanks

    Thank you

http://amistadsagrada.com/newsite/ is NOT what we are looking for. That is the aborted attempt at renovation.

The version we are trying to restore is a big, fully functional website. Different template. Also, the background is yellow.

I do have the WP login details.

    From the host, IDCSOFT:

“it appears that you are trying to upload to the root directory of the account, but you do not have write access there, as it is a system directory. You should extract to /home/amistad/www/www (or /home/amistad/www/subdomain for an example subdomain called “subdomain” – if you need to create new subdomains, you can do so from the Subdomains section of the Control Panel) instead.

In addition, please note that you can extract .rar files from the File Manager, so there is no need to extract it locally and to upload separate small files – in fact, we discourage this, as there is greater chance of an omission.”

I’m not sure where to go from here.

I think I need to upload the backup to the correct part of the remote hierarchy, but again, the problem could lie elsewhere and I am far from expert at this.

    Appreciate the support!

    Thanks again! Great work.

So before proceeding further, there may be an error in my terminology to correct.

For me, moving ‘down’ in a file hierarchy meant back, simpler, towards the root. So, I can not move ‘down’ from home/amistad to /home but I CAN move from home/amistad to home/amistad/www and further. Just not create new folders there.

The client has no idea about his web operation. Someone else was handling it, they have left the picture and now I am picking up the pieces.

So I am not aware if cPanel has been used at any stage. I have interacted with the site only through WP backend and WinSCP.

I just tried to upload the files WP-Includes etc to home/amistad/www but got a similar error to before:

“Cannot create folder. Error message from server: permission denied” etc

    Hosting is with ICDSoft.com

I currently have no further details on that (login etc) but could track them down if required.

    Cheers!

Hello. Thank you so much for the swift and comprehensive response.

Yes, I unpacked the RAR before uploading.

When I use WINSCP to connect to [ redacted, support is not offered via email, Skype, IM etc. only in the forums ] the remote directory displayed is home/amistad

If i try to go down a level, I get

“Error listing directory /home. Permission denied. Error code: 3”

Hopefully this answers your question about uploading to public_html.

After searching through the unpacked backup, I located the wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes folders.

The file directory of the backup goes:

    root>www>www>newsite>wp_admin etc

There is a tonne of other stuff in the preceding folders but that may not be relevant.

Big thank you for your help so far!

    Brian
