I just came across WP-CollectiveAccess and it looks like a really interesting tool that could really support my project. I just tried to install the plugin to try it out, but could not activate.
The following error message shows up for me:
Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/vuser/mydomain.net/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-collectiveaccess/collectiveaccess_objects_hierarchy.php on line 85
Any tips to resolve the problem would be appreciated.

I guess that’s just one of the problems of having sides ;). For what it’s worth, in every other respect Ultimate Member seems an excellent plugin that far outstrips everything else I’ve found available at the moment – I would have loved to have been able to use it. Congrats on the development!
Thanks for your speedy response and willingness to help. I think I will try to look for an alternative solution as I’m not keen on handing over admin control and I’ve already lost an amount of work in the plugin deactivation test.

I’m afraid it didn’t do the trick and actually was a bit of a step backwards as subsequently I couldn’t even log out by clearing the cashe first.

@ecdltf I definitely occupy the more “non-technical” side of the spectrum and can’t seem to get your suggested shortcode to work… any tips?
