Thank you! This is exactly what I wanted to know… I already submitted the same question via the WP Fusion premium account support ticket. I’ll check there to make sure I configure the plugin correctly.
The easiest way to get parallax to work on Elementor sites is to hard code the function into the child theme using this easy to implement code:
http://snifflevalve.com/elementor-tutorials/elementor-parallax-section-background-image/
No plugin needed and it works well and won’t break one other plugins are updated (Elementor DOES NOT have a built in parallax function… my original post failed to mention that i was using granular controls to get parallax)
Maybe I am misunderstanding you.. but as far as I know, Elementor doesn’t have a built in parallax function (which is why many people either hard code the function into their themes or they use a plugin…You can code one using jquery… or you can use the Granular Controls plugin…)
So my thought is that you will not see a fix from Elementor… since it isn’t responsible for the issue…
I have confirmed this issue is with how Elementor interacts with the granular controls plugin… Elementor is no longer passing the granular controls functions to a page. So technically, this is an issue with Granular Controls rather than Elementor… (though I hope at some point Elementor adds a parallax image function to their pro version… )
The issue may not be Elementor however… it may be granular control… looking at the code, the entire parallax function is missing from pages where it should appear (that is visible when using the older version of elementor). It seems that the updated version of Elementor (free) is stripping out the script for parallax.

In reply to: Phantom Plugin UpdateDeleting and RE installing plugins shouldn’t cause any problems with existing settings… but as a precaution (and as a standard practice), you should create a backup so you can revert back in case something goes awry…

In reply to: Phantom Plugin UpdateSo no one has any advice? Could it be a specific plugin causing this? Would deleting all plugins and reinstalling fix the issue (I hesitate to do so since this site has 12 plugins, each with settings/configuration that has to be manually set). Thoughts?

Yet in the admin panel shows pending updates, but again… when clicking on the link to update plugins, there are NO updates available.

In reply to: Phantom Plugin Update with No Update AvailableI think you misunderstand… my admin panel shows three notifications for available updates… when I click on the link to update the plugins, there are NO plugins requiring an update… all plugins are up to date… it is just that there is a notification that says there are updates available.

In reply to: Phantom Plugin UpdateSorry for the delay… not, this is for a plugin… i get the red circle and it shows 1 update pending… but clicking on the link in the navigation, there is nothing listed as needing and update.
I used tgfap’s fix, but I too am worried about the implications of not using HTTPS to communicate with wordpress.com…
Is there a fix or at the very least, a security issue by using tgfap’s fix?

In reply to: Yo, Bring Back Old Image Attributes!I am sure some one somewhere thought this was a good idea, even if it was only good for them. As I stated previously, I can (and do) code my theme CSS to have padding or borders or both. And I really don’t mind if I have to use a plugin in order to do what I used to do out of the box with a basic wp installation. My only real issue is that the “your css should already do this” isn’t really a good reason to TAKE functionality away from the core of WP. If it wasn’t causing any problems, why “fix” it?
I can even hand code borders around images… and hand code margin/padding as well… but… i also build websites for clients who i have convinced to do away with their Joomla sites or their (GASP!) flash sites where they had been updating xml files to make changes to their site… I convinced them that WordPress was really easy to use, that the development team was friendly and helped the community. But when you start removing core functionality because everyone should know how to do x or y or z, that exhibits a level of disconnect between your users and you. That’s what I think is the problem that is boiling up at this point.

In reply to: Yo, Bring Back Old Image Attributes!I’m not sure why such a core function was removed, I’m sure there are reasons… and the idea that “theme doesn’t adequately handle border and padding for you” is really just a cop out… I create custom themes and I set up css to apply borders and margin around images, but here’s the thing… sometimes, just sometimes, i don’t want the standard margin or border to be applied to an image… sometimes I need either more or less margin applied to a single image for a specific layout on a single page… the old version of the image attributes allowed me the freedom to customize margin or borders… using a plugin to accomplish what was part of the core wordpress experience for many seems broken… ideally development of a content management system is one of addition, not subtraction.

In reply to: paragraphs and soft returnsI understand. But your copy and paste instructions do not actually address my question. I apologize if i wasn’t clear, but my intent was to ask a question since I am well aware of the “solutions” to the problem I was encountering. My original message posed a question about why…
You can close this thread since I am afraid you will continue to offer solutions to a problem that I have the answers to rather than actually answer the question I asked.
