I fixed the problem. Had nothing to do with the plugin. Rookie mistake. The problem was with the Visual Editor. To get this plugin to work you must do the following, skipping any of these steps will not work (at least it didn’t for me).
– Deactivate ALL plugins.
– Switch to default TwentyFourteen theme.
– Manually empty browser cache.Once your browser cache is empty you can start activating your plugins and your theme.
Got it working. It was the Visual Editor that needed to be reset. Apparently lots of people who’ve upgraded to 3.9 are having a similar issue. Do the following if you are one of them:
1. Deactivate ALL plugins.
2. Switch to default TwentyFourteen theme.
3. Manually empty browser cache. After I saw the WordPress SEO problem I noticed that the visual editor for Widgets wasn’t working either. That’s when I knew it was an issue with my browser.
NOTE: Just clearing your cache won’t fix this. You must deactivate your plugins and use 2014 before you can start adding your changes back.
For a great write-up on this check out: http://wptavern.com/common-issues-and-troubleshooting-wordpress-3-9.
Thanks Jeff Chandler @wptavern for taking the time to provide these details.
I just noticed the same thing. Now I have two plugins not working after 3.9 was installed — WordPress SEO and MaxButtons.
I just upgraded to WP 3.9 on WPEngine. I have a working version of MaxButtons running on my site: http://birdhero.com. I needed to add the same set of buttons to http://paddleboardhero.com, so I installed the plugin, clicked Add New and attempted to create a new button.
The problem is I can not SAVE. When I click save nothing happens. When I click “Buttons” from the Nav Panel to see my listing of buttons, none are there. Lastly, I went to the site that is working to create a new button — same problem.
I noticed that when you mouse over the “Save” button that an action URL is not given. I tried forcing in a URL (guessing of course) with a new ID but no luck.

In reply to: [WP Social AutoConnect] FB Login and then DisappearsI wound up deleting my app on FB and recreating it. Plugin works now. Have no idea what I did differently as I use the same process each time but at least it works. Closing ticket.

In reply to: [WP Social AutoConnect] FB Login and then DisappearsI am happy to move this thread to your support page. Let me know if that’s preferred.
I reactivated the plugin on the staging site and surfhero.net. But I must leave it deactivated on the other sites because users are complaining.
Read FAQ 100.B. I will take that into consideration if the problem remains on the live sites but note the following: http://support.wpengine.com/staging/. No cache on staging server.
@rlconnors – I see that your site is working now. Did you ever find out what was happening with the Redirect Loop issue? I am on WPEngine too and trying to add a landing page to my site. On my Dev machine it works fine, but on staging I get the redirect error. When I CURLed the URL it tried to redirect 50 times and then timed out. I wasn’t able to determine the problem from the CURL output.

Get same error on Chrome or Safari after clearing history, cookies, etc.
Thanks!
Same error when I just uploaded the plugin and activated on WPEngine. Latest ver of WP and BP. Error log…
