Ok great, thanks so much Andrew. I will do that today.

Also I should mention, I do need to add in some custom code into the theme for 2 new contact forms. The “widget” code has been provided to me from the client and their partner company, which connects the two.. Is a new child theme going to allow me to do that or will that need to go onto the main theme? I can show you the code if you like.

    Thank you.

Hi Andrew, I know it’s been 3 weeks since I last posted, but I have had to delete the child theme you have above for the Facebook icon in the top right section of the website. It was causing the white screen of death, I have tried 4 times since reinstalling the child theme, but each time it just makes the white screen come back, as soon as it’s deleted it fixes the issue.

Is there anything else you can suggest to get the icon back in the top bar? I am building the clients Facebook page and will be linking the website.

    Thank you so much,
    Candice

You have been amazing, it’s all fixed and I’m happy and I’ve done everything the client wanted. Thanks again for your help 🙂

Ok no problem, thanks so much. I will deactivate and use something else to fix up what it’s using magee for.

Thanks so much for all your help I really appreciate it.

Hi, so sorry. I’ve taken it off maintenance now. Oops. Thank you.

display:none fixed the responsive buttons, they are entirely needed, there’s a dropdown for the contact tab for different forms so that’s all good.

Sorry I do have one more question, when the main theme is activated, the logo, nav and my two buttons are nicely spaced, but when the child theme is activated, the logo and nav are squished up next to each in the middle. Do you know what I need to do to fix that?

I have everything done (Facebook icon in the top bar thanks to the child theme, buttons using WPi (just need to work out how to make them responsive and sit under the top bar when mobile size).

    Thanks

Thanks so much Andrew. I’m happy with the Facebook in the top bar now, looks good. I’ll try out the site origin button widget for the two buttons I need to put next to the nav bar. Max buttons worked well but were causing the issue unfortunately.

Thanks again for all your help, I think I’m sorted now 🙂 Enjoy your Christmas.

    Candice.

Thanks Andrew, I currently have the like/share buttons in the header, just need to work on changing the text colour for “you and XXX people like this” to white, and moving it up and over to the far right, as far is it can go within the container.

Do I continue to use the child theme, or copy the code across? This is where I get confused, sorry probably a very dumb question, but no experience with child themes that don’t have anything else in them. Thanks 🙂

Perfect thanks so much Andrew 🙂 I actually had to remove the “max buttons” plugin as I worked out that was the one causing the white screen.

I’ll work on your reply for the Facebook like in the top bar today after I get back from the beach, and get back to you 🙂

    Thanks again!

Ooh scratch that! I’m in! Using filezilla didn’t help but I managed to get in through the hosting c panel and deactivate (also Ultra and Ultra child were both in there). But as soon as I deactivated the plugins the wp panel loaded yay! So I’ve just activated the plugins needed, site looks back to perfect, so the ones I know that are needed fro the previous programmer will be trashed.

Thanks so much! So happy and relieved haha.

Now just onto the social media in the top bar. Also if you have any tips to make 2 buttons within the header, to the right of the navigation menu, responsive, that would be a huge help as well but of course only if you have time or want to. No pressure. I’m loving learning more than I already knew as I go. I’m still studying programming so I love this, even with the errors 🙂

    Hi Andrew,

I got in! Yay. I renamed the plugins folder to deactivate the plugins to try and gain access, but that didn’t do anything. I then went to the themes folder, and there’s no ultra-child theme in there even though I did upload it. So I’m really confused. Even the ultra theme is no longer there which I had been working on for more than a day transitioning from the current theme.

Do you have any ideas what has happened here?

    Thank you,
    Candice

The only details he has to give me is the login details to his hosting provider. Is that what I need? Sorry, such a newbie with all this ftp error stuff. The login details don’t work so I’ve just requested he updates the password so I can atleast login and check.

I’m in Australia so the time difference will be putting us out so I’ll just wait for your reply, when you get a chance, no rush.

Thanks again for your help Andrew.
