Worried may have similar problem. Login page says my WP username for this site is invalid. Accessed password change and email reply reads:
Someone has requested a password reset for the following account:
Site Name: REDACTED
Username: a
I’ve never used “a” as a username and don’t know where it came from. Is “a” typo or does it indicate my site is hacked?
Fixed it! Accessed WP files thru FileZilla. Couldn’t see how to call up the errant line of code to edit, so deleted the entire plug-in whose update had created the problem. FileZilla made deletion easy. Now I’ll be forever suspicious of plug-in updates.
Same problem. Nontechie. Would appreciate a nontechie solution! Have tried/failed various fixes offered on Forum and web, including FTP access via FileZilla and Hostgator (neither of which I can make work).
