This did not fix my problem. it is worthy to note that the backend and frontend dont work. if i check the box that says Do not use this settings for administrator, the backend works for me but still no front end. any ideas?

Hello, can you share how you fixed this? i am getting the same error but i have all folders to 755 permission…
you need to go to the Parabola settings under appearance > then go to social media settings.
The way i got rid of the other icons is just to erase what info is there. For example if you choose twitter it will auto put a hash tag, just delete it and the icon will go away. works the same for RSS feeds i believe.
