In reply to: Links in Posts don't seem to workOK, this is a REALLY WEIRD BUG
I just moved plugins to plugins.hold
set theme to default. If I try to add MY link, it doesn’t show up.
If I try to add CNN.COM link, it works perfectly. What’s my link?
I’m trying to link to the forums on my own site.
I figured it out! it’s not java!
When I enter a link, whether I put a title in or not,
you have to put SOMETHING in between the > after the href
and before the < following it otherwise link doesn’t show up.

In reply to: Links in Posts don't seem to workWell that’s part of it.
still doesn’t work on the original site.I guess I’m back to doing that tedious work.
I hope it’s not the theme, we can’t change that 🙁Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Links in Posts don't seem to workI created a brand new directory on my server,
then downloaded a brand new zip of the latest wordpress
and unzipped it.and with this fresh brand new install I get the same problem.
OK! I’ve narrowed it down, and you might be right.
I can reproduce this on my windows machine. But on my MAC everything works ok.
ohh man… it’s gotta be java. 🙁 what a pain!

In reply to: Links in Posts don't seem to workfor this fresh install:
1. Dashboard
2. Posts
3. Edit the “Hello World”
4. click the “text” option, as visual doesn’t allow me to add links (it’s grayed out)
5. type the manual http link as per “link:” above and enter a few blank lines.
6. type “link2: ” and click the link button, entering the url for cnn as same, putting in the title “CNN”
7. click update.By the way, it also has the same problem in this message thread.
If I enter html code in here with a href as per normal, and post the message, I get the same problem, it doesn’t show up when I view the thread. as per above the “link2:” shows nothing after it.
tried chrome and firefox and IE.Forum: Fixing WordPress

http://www.zerofusion.com/wpbug/
notice the “hello world” message.
I added two different kinds of links.neither work. the 2nd one is blank.
no plugins, default theme.
Now what?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Links in Posts don't seem to workAnd what do you know. It doesn’t work at all.
In fact, I can’t even add a link to a post.
the link option is grayed out.if I put in html code, it shows it as plain text.
if I put in a url with http:// it also shows it as plain text.
this is a vanilla install right out of the box, no plugins, default theme.

In reply to: Links in Posts don't seem to workThat seems like an excessive amount of work
and dangerous.I’m going to install a fresh copy of wordpress along side my active one, and try this out there, if that doesn’t work, it has to be something else.

In reply to: Links in Posts don't seem to workyep! it’s exactly the same!
I just deactivated ALL plugins, changed the theme to Twenty Fourteen, and tried to add a link to a post, got the exact same result!
Ok, well I don’t want to hide the stuff that’s on the sliding menu.
I have a set of things there I want to keep. But I do want to get rid of all the posts that are clogging up my “featured” posts section.
hrmph.
Oops, sorry, the sort order WORKS now!
thank you!
Now for the rest 🙂
Yeah, the sort order is not working.
When people select documents (memphis docs) from the main page,
clicking “ascending” does nothing, it instantly reverts 🙁as for the posts, that sounds good, but can I verify:
1) it will still post the actual document in the documents library
2) i can still show such in the sliding menu if I choose to?in other words, I dont want to disable posting the document, just the extraneous post about posting the document.
Specifically the “sliding menu” widget,
not the documents library.I’d like to add an image to documents listed on the sliding menu,
if possible.but the previous post of sorting order is more critical at this time.
BTW one more annoying thing about memphis document library.
When I put a new document into the documents library, it ALSO creates a POST for this. I realize some people like this, or prefer it, But I don’t.
In fact, I’d rather it didn’t do the POST at all. Just keep the documents in the document library and let me handle the rest.
it’s very annoying because if I add a lot of documents, it rolls over all my important posts on the main page, even featured posts… ick
Sorry those are TWO different BUGS in noteworthy!
Can someone please look at these?
