I re-saved my permalinks but don’t think that helped….

wp-cache. same issue with it on and off. Been using this theme for over a year, just noticed this issue a day or 2 ago, probably came with the last wordpress update…
thanks for pointing me to the home page workaround.

uh ok, but why did it suddenly stop reading the already set site-tagline?
