I would like to help, thank you for posting your PHP version. I’m currently running php 5.5.9 would it be possible to install a newer version? I’m going to spin up a server that has that php version on it. So I can see if that is what is causing the issue.
@onepresstech at first I thought it had to do with windows servers, but I see your Linux and from using /var/www using a pretty basic setup. Unfortunately I havn’t been able to replicate the issue. I’m now thinking it has to do with a specific PHP version, what version of PHP are you using?

The plugin does require curl, is that installed on the server. Is your private wordpress site hosted on linux or windows?
It’s not the password, I might not have the correct permission.
