They are both hosted with Site Assembly, but not on the same account or same server.
I’ve only been using the Stories plugin on the site where I’m having the issue for two weeks, and it has happened four times so far.
I’ll make sure to take screenshots and/or video the next time this happens.

I don’t currently see any console errors, but I haven’t checked known to check this. I will make sure to check that as I work on this web story draft, and copy any errors if they show up.
I don’t have a recording, but I will make sure to record this the next time it happens. I’m working on the web story now.
However, I can’t predict when it will happen, as I am sometimes able to save my work and exit the stories editor before my work is erased.
I did take screenshots the second time this happened, but they only show my edited slides — not the erased edits once the page reloaded, or the “failed to save” messages.
