Huge thank you for the help Drew, all done now. My next task is to add a Facebook ‘like’ icon somewhere atop the page so that it doesn’t interfere with the placement of the slideshow. I would like it to appear as a part of the menu. I’ll post that request in the hackas and plugins section.

    Thanks again

Again, thank you very much indeed. I’ll try that now and report back soon.

Drew Jaynes, thank you very much for your reply, much appreciated.
I have located the coding you refer to and managed to change the white block to a black block, exactly how I wanted it.

Here is the coding as it appears…

    .page h2.entry-title {-moz-opacity:0.95;filter:alpha(opacity=95);opacity:0.95;background:#000;font-size:3.6em;font-weight:100;letter-spacing:-0.05em;line-height:1.2em;margin:0.5em 0 0.25em;padding:0;width:600px;position:relative;z-index:12;}

You will see I have changed the background to “000”, hence why it is now black. I am afraid it is not obvious to me how to change the text to white, it is a very dark grey at present and I can’t see anything obvious like “text color” with a value to change.

Again your help is much appreciated.

PS, I’ll be putting a few links to other pages/posts within the site soon too… a page for pricing, a page for ‘contact me’ etc etc.

Tips and idiots guides always welcome 🙂

OK I have installed a slideshow using [portfolio_slideshow] on a post within Origami and it works fine. The images jump around according to their size (left aligned I think) but I know how to fix that and make it look much cleaner.
All I need now is to change the whole page to black with white writing and to move the “on September 5, 2012 – uncategorized” to the bottom of the page.
I like the Facebook ‘Like’ link thing just where it is too.

    Many thanks for your help.

OK, once again thanks for your help.
I’m quite liking Origami at the moment. But I did notice that I have the text “on september 5th- uncategorize” above the picture (I removed some of the text) but your version has that text below the picture, how did you do that? Also, can I insert a slideshow on that page instead of a single/static picture. While your asleep I’ll give that a try and report back if I succeed.

    Kind regards

Andrew, Jan, thank you very much for your replies.

Jan, I looked at the .com site (didn’t know the blog themes were available to us) and thought ‘Nishita’ was rather nice. I can try ‘Nishita’ on another site that I have before I make it live.

I have been playing with a theme on my site today (www.charlesgward.com) and learned a little too, stress levels are much lower now.

Sorry about being miffed earlier, you wouldn’t believe the stress I’m under right now, my website being hacked a few times in as many days didn’t help.

    Kind regards

Just 2 minutes into day 4 of trying to get a suitable theme and my stress levels are dangerously high again. A huge thank you for all your suggestions.
