I found the code I needed to correct my issue elsewhere. That’s why this is marked as “Resolved”

Ah yes, you see, that’s a helpful answer, if the other guy can’t help, then it would be best for him not to answer. His answer was that document that tells you how to set up an override folder and how to copy templates into it for revision. that’s it. Well, obviously, but then what. I had to do that back on Day 1 that I installed this plugin. And yes the thread went sideways after the email I got from him from another post. You do know that the documentation on this plugin is really rough, and things that should be written clearly need additional clarification don’t you?

Again, the review is not a “personal thought” merely an accurate assessment that either by design or not, by intention or not, this plugin requires a lot more coding than others do to achieve a similar functionality. Not judging, just saying that this is how it is. It isn’t portrayed that way, so that’s why the 1 star, it might be a 5-star product for some, the way some deploy it, but not the way I intend to. It might be a 5-star plugin for someone who wants to basically code the thing themselves from the ground up and need a good lightly coded piece to start with. or it might be a 1-star plugin if you don’t want to go that route. The documentation is poorly written, that isn’t my personal thought. There are parts that are incomplete, and parts that are inaccurate and even code snippets that aren’t right, and even one of them is in the wrong document. So that isn’t a “personal thought” is it?

As far as my rights to do so, I’m sure Ashok Dudhat will disagree with you, based on how he responded to me earlier and through out my other support tickets.

Though I do appreciate your detailed response to my issue, that was what I was looking for when I asked earlier, and your associate, though he is listed as a plugin author, seemed either uninformed, or just was not interested in helping, not sure which, though he did take the time to respond to me about my review on EVERY SINGLE post I have. Not very nice, not very “helpful” not someone I would ever ask for help from or deal with again. He sent me a link to use shortcode for listing a specific post by post ID. Then I spend a couple hours on other forums, and complete strangers look at the code to this plugin and are able to assist me. Though at this point, I’d rather not spend any more time on this plugin, for the very reason, that I know if I ever needed help, or I purchased the other 3 plugin addons I need, I know, I will get bad info, I know my issue will go unresolved, and I know that I will get pointed to a document that isn’t very useful. I know that if I dare to speak out, I will get insulted back. I can’t afford that risk if I am going to pay a chunk for the other addons I need. (which pales in comparison to the time I will spend fixing the core) That’s a large investment total. Too big of a risk here.

I will repeat my defense of myself and my review here as well, since you have seemed to write the exact same thing on all of my posts now.

My review was not based on my not understanding, not based on my not being able to ask for assistance, not based on my “not trying out your help” or “trying to get help from you” or whatever you meant. It was not based out of frustration like you accused me of in one of your emails to me. Yes, your help was not helpful, yes it was hard to understand. You now want me to share my URL with you and help me, but you were not so eager to when I first asked. You did not even address all of the parts of my question, just dismissed me with one of your incomplete tech docs.

I re-installed the plugin from scratch, and spent a couple hours researching my issues and how to correct them elsewhere on the internet, without any further assistance from you (I guess I really should have written my review earlier?)

So my review, which I still defend, is based on knowing how much work and effort and time it will take for me to get it working well (and not even as nicely as the extensively modified ones in your “showcase”).

OK, thank you, I only asked because it wasn’t clear in the documentation whether Gmap functionality was present in this version, wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss something.

No, it is sad that you would write what you just did and try to portray me as someone who did not ask for help, or did not try to resolve my issue with you. I wrote on several issues and got responses back immediately with no thought at all into them, all pointing me to a page where you instruct people to override their template files. I did provide you with a URL, now you make it seem like I didn’t. It is sad that I got the emails from you after I wrote the review that I did. (a lot more attention than when I was asking for assistance). Sad that you insulted me in your emails. So I actually do completely understand the nature of my issues with the product, I understand what it will take to resolve them all, don’t worry, a few extra hours spent researching this outside of this support site, not because you were very helpful, and wrote my review based on that, not out of “frustration” as you accused me of in one of your emails. But based on how much work it would be to clean this up, fix code, and get it looking decent.

I didn’t even write in my review how unpleasant trying to get support from you really was. I suppose I should go and edit my review now to include this part of my experience?

No, it is sad that I actually did write you for assistance, it is sad, that I only was pointed to a poorly worded, poorly translated document, written in broken english, which made about as much sense as that first sentence in your second paragraph above, it is sad that you did not address my needs at all. It is sad that I already did share my site URL with you. It is sad that a couple of the issues I raised with you had multi-part questions in them, none of which were addressed, only to read that one exact same document again. And again.

My review was very fair, I gave it one star, because out of the box, it needs a LOT of working on, a lot of code to input. That’s fine, nothing wrong with that, as long as potential users are aware that you do need to input code to do just about anything with the plugin, including listing the events in the list view in chronological order, something that everyone else seems to be able to program in from the start. I did not get into aesthetics or appearances, because that is subjective. That all of your examples in the “showcase” have had extensive code input and redesign. Fine as long as people know that. The documentation you provide is incomplete in parts, inaccurate in parts, and parts are translated into english poorly.

OK, thank you, again, not much help.

You should write a script that auto-answers every question you get “Hi,

You can achieve it by doing an override template. Please have look it here.

    https://www.wp-eventmanager.com/documentation/template-files-override/

Thank you.” (just look at how many times in this support database, that has been the answer, and the document you refer to isn’t very complete or helpful even)

by the time I am done getting this plugin to work as described, I will have written more code than you. Hardly inspires any confidence at all in even trying your paid add-ons. Maybe it wouldn’t be so painful, if the documentation you provided was complete, accurate and had a good English translation.

will try a different plugin, thank you anyway.

    (@chifu67)

ok, thanks, I guess the fact that the settings panel (in the free version) asked for the google maps API key and had instructions on how to obtain one, confused me.

    (@chifu67)

No, that pages= with the shortcode showing how I can list a single event by its ID did not help. (seriously?) so you are saying that everything will show up, based on having the correct shortcode? (which you will not even share?)

Yes, Thank you, that new document created worked perfectly for me.
