I tried 2012, and I even tried the plugin in a separate install of WordPress — still the same. On my production site, I hadn’t made any changes at all when the break occured.
I’ve discovered a new issue — serious break type. Marking this as resolved and posting in new thread.
Ok. Worth adding here, I think. Maybe your code did take, because a few hard refreshes later, I’ve got tiny thumbnails in posts. The odd thing is that it took several tries for it to work.
Either way, thanks for your help and input — much appreciated. I shall now pull out what’s left on my head trying to understand the why of it all. 😛
I tried it in another install without the Frontend plugin and had the same results. And yes it is in posts, but it seems odd that it ignores media settings. The code you suggested did nothing, unfortunately, but it could be I haven’t added it correctly.
As for your other question, that previous comment happened when I installed the updated plugin into its own folder and just deactivated the first original one. The image uploaded but, as you say, did not show up on the admin backend for the post, but did in the media backend.
The more I look at this, the more I think it might be a theme issue. I didn’t notice it until after the plugin was installed, but it still happens when the plugin is deactivated.
Sometimes plugins make changes that stick even after they are installed though so… I don’t know if I can prove it either way unless I install a new version of the theme and WP elsewhere.
Update.
Did clean install. Made sure I clicked save on each screen of the options area for the plugin (otherwise changes don’t take).
- Excerpts work.
- Featured Image upload and set works.
- Featured image thumbnail — still full size image, so no love there. 🙁
The plugin update does solve a few of my other issues, however, though, so thanks!
Thanks for the link @professor99. Unfortunately that actually has caused more problems, so far.
The featured image still shows full-sized, no matter what size I pick (and I tried in a new post as well). Also, the featured image has to be reset from the admin backend now — it uploads, but does not set.
Another issue, unrelated to the images:
– The require excerpt does not show an excerpt field, and the post goes through just fine without it — no message about required features.I will try again, and make sure my install is clean — unless you have any other points to add? Should I check my shortcodes or anything?
