You’ll see from the password protected page below that the form is going to a hidden WP URL (https://www.sut.org/sut-admin/?action=postpass). After removing lines 529 AND 598 from the plugin.php, it works with or without the correct password.

I’ve put the edited code live without the condition and seems to work fine. Obviously this isn’t robust as it will be lost when next updated.
Can you please tell me what the issue you were having was so that I can check my website?
