In reply to: [BuddyMeet] Is there a Setting to Force the Desktop View on a Mobile Device?Hi Themis,
Feature request incoming!
I’ve been doing some reading around opening Jitsi Meet in a mobile browser.
There has been a big discussion of it on Github: Covid-19 has given a lot of impetus to requests for a version of Jitsi which opens directly in mobile Safari/Chrome.
While the work is definitely not finished yet, one of the senior 8×8 developers has posted on Github (link below):
We are comitting to implement this, that is, Jitsi Meet will be able to be opened from mobile browsers.

All of this work is ongoing, here is the start of the Safari work, for instance: #5798 (this might be a small PR, but more is coming).
If you want to using this now (note that it will only work on Android) you can do it like so:
- If you are self-hosting your own Jitsi-Meet instance: edit config.js and set disableDeepLinking: true,
- If you are using meet.jit.si, you can craft a URL like so: https://meet.jit.si/YourMeetingNameHere#config.disableDeepLinking=true
The part after the # sign will override the default config and take you directly into the conference.”
feat: allow jitsi meet to be opened in a mobile browser #3518
Like @jonharari, I am very keen to be able to enable mobile users to connect directly in the browser. Might it be possible to add the new functionality from Jitsi Meet to make a setting as jonharari suggested, please?
Many thanks,
Chris
